It's the Tundra's 10th anniversary!

Updated: Sep 17

Created in 2015, the Tundra has quickly made its way into the hearts of riders worldwide.

Its versatility and "do-it-all" qualities have made it the most popular model from Borealis. Today we celebrate its birthday, and through this article we will summarise its journey, strengths and explain why this snowboard is so popular!

Borealis and ecology

Since the creation of our brand, ecology has always been a major concern in our minds. At Borealis, we love snowboarding and nature. That’s why every board is made with eco-friendly or sustainable materials and technologies.

The Tundra has alternative components in accordance with our principles: natural bamboo topsheet, sustainably-sourced wood, solvent-free and water-based ink and lacquer, recycled steel edges, biodegradable fluoride-free wax and more.

A technical and aesthetic (r)evolution

Over the past ten years, the Tundra has overseen different stages of development, reaching its climax in its 2025 version. It is lighter than before and more efficient. The wood used for the core has been modified and is now stronger than ever. Shape wise, the tips' s length has been slightly increased which improves pow-hovering capacities and eases landings whilst sending tricks in the backcountry. The sidecut has also been improved, allowing more efficient and powerful turns whilst carving.

All in all, what makes the Tundra so special was left untouched. We simply improved what could be in order to make it even more efficient and enjoyable to ride.

Graphics wise, the first version of the Tundra had a very sober topsheet, focusing on the bamboo's natural pattern. The intent was to highlight the material, emphasising on the idea that the beauty of nature is self-sufficient. Later, the Tundra became, little by little, nature's ambassador at Borealis. Boreal landscapes and animals were added over the years. Like an ode to nature, this snowboard is a direct testimony of our love for the living.
